Resumen en portugues
A partir de uma fundamentação teórica que evidencia a íntima relação entre a organização postural global e a mecânica da respiração, esta pesquisa busca discutir a relevância de uma abordagem fisioterapêutica que contemple a totalidade do sistema locomotor da criança com doença respiratória. Para tanto, procedeu-se ao estudo narrativo do tratamento de quatro meninos com síndrome de prune belly, dentro de um modelo inovador a que chamamos "dupla abordagem" (na mesma ocasião, cada criança recebia, concomitantemente, atendimento fisioterapêutico postural e respiratório).A opção por uma metodologia qualitativa se justifica pela valorização dos aspectos sociais e psico-comportamentais que, necessariamente, interferem no processo de tratamento, permitindo perceber como uma abordagem centrada no vínculo entre terapeuta e paciente e na presença do caráter lúdico viabilizou a adesão espontânea das crianças à terapia. Este trabalho se situa no contexto da "nova saúde pública", corroborando com os princípios da integralidade e distanciando-se do paradigma biomédico mecanicista e reducionista, pela valorização das subjetividades e singularidades inerentes a cada paciente.Os resultados satisfatórios obtidos com os pacientes deste estudo apontam para a relevância da construção de um modelo ampliado de fisioterapia, que vise problematizar o papel deste profissional no âmbito da saúde coletiva e lance luz sobre sua responsabilidade, não apenas quanto à melhora do quadro pulmonar, mas no que diz respeito à promoção da autonomia e da qualidade de vida da criança com doença respiratória.
