Yellow fever is an acute viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, which can cause serious illness and death. The yellow fever virus is a member of the genus Flavivirus family Flaviviridae. In Brazil, all regions have had cases of the disease and the number of fatalities has increased. Until now, vaccination is the most effective means to prevent and control yellow fever. From 2011, the amount requested by both the Ministry of Health and for export increased. To guarantee supply of yellow fever vaccine (attenuated) to national and international bodies in times of high demand, as well as increase supply and improve the use of doses distributed, avoiding the loss of a stable vaccine, stability studies were performed in order to extend the period of validity of the reconstituted product for a period of up to 8 hours and kept at 25 °C, a different condition from the expressed by the producer (6 hours since kept 2°C to 8 °C). The results suggest an extension of validity p eriod of the product after reconstitution from 6 to 8 hours as well as the optional recommendation of 2 to 8 °C or controlled environment of 25 °C, resulting in sa vings of resources and better use of thousands of doses of the immunizing.
