Abstract
SUS is organized into three levels of health care. The Emergency Care Unit (PAU) occupies the intermediate level between Basic Attention (AB) and medium and high complexity. The training of professionals specialized in Family Health requires knowing the practices developed in the Family Health Strategy (ESF) as well as the service network. OBJECTIVE: To describe the contributions of the internship in a PAU for the formation of a Nurse, in a multiprofessional residence in Family Health. METHODOLOGY: Experience report elaborated from the experience in the Optional Stage in a UPA. RESULTS: It was observed that the majority of the cases treated in the PAU were sensitive to AB; the safe routing of users to the basic reference units is non-existent. The matriciamento and the host could be used to guarantee the continuity of the care. CONCLUSION: The experience in the UPA stage was important to develop new skills, broadened the understanding about the functioning of a UPA, making it possible to observe the weaknesses of the service and AB, exercising a critical and reflexive role, contributing to my training as a health professional of the family.
