| en_US |

Abstract | The purpose of this dissertation is to contribute to the knowledge of nursing practice as a work process and social practice, seeking to identify the concrete historical conditions of the emergence of this practice and characterize its most recent transformations in Nicaraguan society. The objective of the work is, therefore, the study of the nursing workforce before and after the Sandinista Popular Revolution. The following aspects were selected: the production of the nursing workforce, through its training, its consumption, through distribution and use in the health sector; and, finally, the conditions for social participation of nursing staff in the period 1940-1987. It therefore provides a synthesis of the conditions of economic and social development in which this practice is immersed, presented in three distinct moments: the formation of the State; consolidation, modernization and crisis of the Somozista Military Dictatorship; the post-revolution period (1979-1987). Finally, it analyzes the origin, consolidation and crisis of modern nursing practice in Nicaraguá, seeking to understand it in conjunction with the transformations in the health sector, the State and Society. | en_US |
