Abstract
The children and teenager cancer is a public health problem, and with the increased survival of children and adolescents affected by it, it became essential to direct efforts and resources to guide strategies patients’ care in different levels of expertise in the promotion health, communication and social mobilization, and production of materials that contribute to coping and well-being of these individuals. Health professionals also need support and training to cope the care of sick children. A book composed of letters that tell some situations experienced by children and adolescents with cancer were presented to physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, and, through the Symbolic Interactionism, we identified a new look of the disease for these individuals who can contribute much to humanization of cancer services. The humanization of health care in the current context is relevant because the attention and care in this sector are shoes on principles such as comprehensiveness of care, equity and social participation of the user, among others, described by the Unified Health System.
