Abstract | The Forum debates current trends and challenges
for teaching and research in this subfield and the
prevailing criteria for evaluation of its academic
output. The authors wager on the hypothesis that
we are currently experiencing a clash between the
consolidation of Social and Human Sciences in
Public Health (with a well-defined identity, undeniable
vigor in their research and proposals,
and an important number of practitioners) and a
bottleneck in training processes and iniquity and
inadequacy in the institutional mechanisms for
recognition of merit. The Forum presents four articles.
The first, by Minayo, discusses the basic forms
of knowledge for this training and those needed to
analyze contemporary challenges in a globalized
world, besides debating the interfaces and mediations
between the biological and the social in a
teaching proposal. The second, by Trad, provides
a current portrait of the subfield’s output. The
third, by Deslandes & Iriart, presents theoretical
and methodological trends in recently published
studies, identifying their gaps and characteristics.
Bosi, author of the fourth article, fuels the debate
on the criteria for evaluation of academic output
in the field and analyzes their consequences. The
Postscript, by Nunes, reclaims and updates the debate
on the construction of identities in the Social
and Human Sciences in Public Health. | pt_BR |
