Abstract
From being the object of reproduction to being the subject of citizenship, that’s how women’s health has been transformed from the 1960’s to the current days. The struggle started with groups of women which were eventually named feminist movements. A number of health programs have sprung up under the command of the Ministry of Health. Each decade has been characterized by their own fight. In 1980 women were granted a program which would treat children’s health separately; in 2000 important moments were witnessed: the creation of a policy focused on issues of gender and diversity as well as a regulation capable of relighting a few questions of the 1960’s. The past turns out to be present again. From the maternal and child program up to the Rede Cegonha, it took 37 years so there could be a change able to solidify attitudes that did not use to be dealt with the emphasis they deserved. More than defining social policies themselves, this work draws attention to the importance of social groups in their tailoring.
