Abstract in Portuguese | As atividades têxteis são economicamente importantes no Brasil. No entanto, algumas atividades produzem efluentes com 5-20% de corantes que em geral, são estáveis e persistentes no ambiente. Estas substâncias podem interagir com o sedimento, resultando em efeitos agudos e crônicos para a biota aquática. Os organismos mais comumente usados para testes de toxicidade são as Daphnia similis (Cladocera, Crustacea) no qual vive e se alimenta na coluna d’água. Nós acreditamos que as espécies bentônicas, nas quais vivem e se alimentam nos sedimentos, como Chironomus xanthus (Chironomidae, Diptera, Insecta) pode ser o candidato ideal para estes testes de toxicidade. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a toxicidade do sedimento natural e artificial contaminados com azocorantes têxteis disperso e reativo utilizando D. similis e
C. xanthus como organismos-testes. Nós também avaliamos a concentração nominal e efetiva para determinar a quantidade de massa associada ao sedimento, usando espectrofotômetro. Não foram encontradas diferenças significantes entre a toxicidade dos sedimentos para C. xanthus. Os azocorantes disperso e reativo foram similares para a concentração nominal da CL50, mas utilizando a concentração efetiva, o azocorante disperso foi 3 vezes mais tóxico do que o azocorante reativo. A espécie C. xanthus foi 210 vezes mais sensível do que D. similis para o azocorante disperso e 10 vezes mais sensível para o azocorante reativo. | pt_BR |
