Abstract
Classified as Neglected Disease, dengue, endemic disease in Brazil, is considered as a major public health problem worldwide. The number of infections related to dengue has increased in recent decades due to the rapid and uncontrolled increase of urbanization, poor sanitation and piped water supply, and the mobility of goods and people across the globe. In this scenario, the importance of the role of public policies is unquestionable, particularly those that drive investment and stimulate research. In this sense, the knowledge of the scientific literature regarding this harm is important to know the profile of this research. This study aimed to identify and describe the literature that realizes the dengue research, in free access. The source of information used to reach this production was the Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO), in the areas of Life Sciences, Health Sciences and Social Sciences, in the Brazil collection. The main results indicate a growth in scientific production since 1997; prevalence of the biomedical nature of the research developed in the country; a pattern of scientific production, mostly in co-authorship; incipient scientific literature on dengue in the journals of the Applied Social Sciences area and the emergence of the theme Vector as the most important to represent the production in the area.
