A leishmaniose cutânea (LC) causada por Leishmania braziliensis é a principal forma clínica de leishmaniose tegumentar americana. A LC é observada principalmente em adultos jovens do sexo masculino. Embora as manifestações clínicas e a resposta terapêutica ao antimônio tenham sido bem estudadas na LC, há uma falta de informação sobre a doença em pacientes idosos.
