Abstract | Flippases are responsible for the asymmetric distribution of phospholipids in biological membranes. In the encapsulated fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans, the putative flippase Apt1 is an important regulator of polysaccharide secretion and pathogenesis in mice by unknown mechanisms.
