Abstract | Currently, the main diseases transmited by Aedes aegypti are dengue, chikungunya and zika. For this purpose, vector control measures have been adopted for the elimination of proliferation foci mainly through the use of larvicidal agents. Therefore, the objective of this work is to test extracts of Petiveria alliacea (Guinea)’s larvicide capacity, known as cytotoxic. Guiné’s crude extract was used from 30% hydroalcoholic percolated at different dilutions. Alcohol in extract was evaporated by convection to the air stream and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) was added to the obtained extract to stabilize it as an emulsion. The A. aegypti eggs were collected in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte. Wood platelets were used in ovitraps with attractive infusion for the mosquito, and weekly collection and exchange were performed. Hatching was performed under uncontrolled environmental conditions, but monitored. Two groups were assayed and tested for stage 3
larvae at each dilution (1%, 3%, 5%, 10%, 25%, 50% v/v) for the test group to refute DMSO larvicidal effect. The assays were performed in triplicates. The results show that the hyperexcitability of the larvae in guinean extracts was followed by death at the highest concentrations when compared to the control groups. Thus, it is evident that there is a cytotoxic effect of P. alliacea extract on A. aegypti larvae and its larvicidal effect is confirmed. Dilutions that had presented lower mortality’s rate or absence of mortality were that by 1 and 3% v / v. The results showed that Guinea extract can be used as larvicide in concentrations higher than 5% v / v. | pt_BR |
