Os triatomíneos, transmissores do agente etiológico da doença de Chagas, possuem ampla distribuição no sudeste do estado do Tocantins. Associados a afloramentos rochosos, Triatoma costalimai e Triatoma jatai pertencem ao subcomplexo matogrossensis e vivem em simpatria. A utilização de caracteres morfológicos tem contribuído na diferenciação de espécies afins e crípticas, no entendimento taxonômico e nas relações filogenéticas dentro da subfamília Triatominae. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar os aspectos morfológicos e morfométricos dos ovos de T. costalimai e T. jatai utilizando a técnica de Microscopia Óptica (MO) e Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV). Os ovos analisados procedem de espécimes capturados nos municípios de Aurora do Tocantins e Paranã e mantidos em colônias. Para a morfometria foram analisados o comprimento e largura de ovos não eclodidos. Para a MO e MEV foram desenhadas, fotografadas e analisadas células do opérculo (OP) e do corpo do ovo (CO) descriminando as regiões cefálica, mediana e caudal. A mensuração das áreas e quantificação das pontuações foram feitas no programa SemAfore 5.2 e as análises estatísticas utilizando o teste ANOVA e o Teste t. Os resultados da MO mostraram que o exocório do ovo apresenta uma predominância de linhas curtas em T. jatai, e pontuações em T. costalimai A morfometria demonstrou que entre as duas espécies existem diferenças significativas nas medidas do comprimento e largura, sendo que os ovos de T. costalimai são maiores que T. jatai. Para MEV, os resultados evidenciaram que o OP apresenta células de bordos retos e/ou arredondados, com aspecto acolchoado, pontuações aleatórias e predominância da forma pentagonal. No CO, as células hexagonais predominam, com índices superiores a 60% nas duas espécies. As células do exocório de T. costalimai são planas, com os bordos suaves, enquanto que em T. jatai são acolchoados com bordos bem marcados. O teste estatístico mostrou diferença significativa (p<0,001) apenas para CO, onde as células de T. costalimai foram maiores e com mais pontuações (646,65 \03BCm2; \0305 = 27,36) do que T. jatai (541,96 \03BCm2; \0305 = 19,55). Neste sentido, foi possível concluir que os aspectos morfológicos e morfométricos dos ovos de T. costalimai e T. jatai podem ser diferenciados com base nas técnicas de Microscopia Óptica e Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura, contribuindo assim para a caracterização taxonômica de ambas as espécies afins.
