| Abstract | A group convened and led by the Virus Evolution Working Group of the World Health Organization reports on its deliberations and announces a naming scheme that will enable clear communication about SARS-CoV-2 variants of interest and concern. Conclusion: We emphasize that the existing phylogenetics-based nomenclature systems of SARS-CoV-2 lineages convey important information and continue to inform research. This new naming system is intended to facilitate the sharing of research advancements with a broader audience and aims to provide a platform to enable clear global discourse around VOIs and VOCs. | pt_BR |
