| Abstract in Portuguese | O artigo discute a luta de uma comunidade pelo reconhecimento dos atributos patrimoniais de uma edificação tombada e inserida em um território periférico e de conflitos urbanos. A Igreja de São Daniel Profeta, localizada no Complexo de Favelas de Manguinhos (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil), é um projeto de Oscar Niemeyer e está tombada a nível estadual desde 1966 e a nível municipal desde 1998. Moradores lutam por sua integridade a fim de manter o culto e as características que a chancelam como patrimônio moderno. O estudo analisa o processo que culminou em seu tombamento, a significação cultural atribuída pela comunidade de fiéis ao bem e o risco de destombamento. Objetiva-se contribuir com experiências territoriais de movimentos de base comunitária, sob a perspectiva do patrimônio cultural, inserido em contexto de vulnerabilidade social. | en_US |

| Abstract | The article explores the struggle of a community for the recognition of the cultural heritage attributes of a listed building which is inserted in a peripheral territory of urban conflict. The Church of São Daniel Prophet, located in a low-income community in the city of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) - the Complexo de Manguinhos - is a project with the architectural signature of Oscar Niemeyer and has been listed at the state level since 1966 and at the municipal level since 1998. The community´s fight is to preserve its integrity in order to maintain the cult and the characteristics that seal it as a modern heritage. The study analyzes the process that culminated in its recognition as a cultural heritage,
the building´s cultural significance attributed by the community of believers and the risk of losing its cultural protection. The goal is to contribute with territorial experiences of community-based movements, from the perspective of cultural heritage, inserted in a context of social vulnerability. | en_US |
