Leishmaniasis is a neglected, emerging disease and has revealed a process of geographic expansion in several regions of the world. Being transmitted through the bite of a female sand fly infected by parasites of the genus Leishmania. Knowledge of the faunal composition of sand fly species in a given area is highly relevant for the identification and presence of potential vectors of the disease, as well as data on bioecology that can contribute to the use of actions in control programs. The present study aimed to identify the sandfly fauna in the Três Picos State Park (PETP), where there are no data on these dipterans, in addition to being an area of human visitation with houses in its surroundings. In addition, it sought to evaluate the presence of Leishmania spp. in female sandflies and identify food sources. Monthly captures were performed using CDC light traps, HP model, between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am of the following day, during two consecutive nights at different monitoring stations. The identification of sand fly species was performed based on the analysis of morphological characters. The identification of Leishmania spp. circulating and the food source of females were performed from molecular analysis by PCR. After 12 field campaigns, 2826 specimens were captured, distributed in 21 species identified, four of which are of medical importance: Bichromomyia flaviscutellata; Migonemia migonei; Pintomyia fischeri; Psychodopygus hirsutus hirsutus. The data obtained between the monitoring stations in the dry and rainy periods indicate that the new moon period presented the highest species richness while the full moon presented the highest dominance and density of sandflies. A strong environmental and seasonal correlation can also be observed between the species captured in the study. In addition, it was identified as a feeding habit of Ps. hirsutus hirsutus the armadillo Dasypus septemcinctus, as well as the presence of Leishmania braziliensis DNA in engorged and non-engorged females of Ps. hirsutus hirsutus, suggesting the occurrence of a sylvatic cycle of these species in the region. It is concluded that surveillance studies should be carried out at the site, as well as health education actions, since PETP presents itself as a potential site of risk of infection
