| Abstract in Portuguese | A Comissão de Linhas Telegráficas Estratégicas do Mato Grosso ao Amazonas foi, de acordo com as pesquisas contemporâneas sobre o tema, a mais ambiciosa e complexa expedição patrocinada pelo governo da Primeira República Brasileira. Pouca atenção, entretanto, tem sido conferida ao impacto local das atividades da Comissão Rondon nos estados em que foram construídas as linhas telegráficas. Este trabalho apresenta uma reflexão inicial e faz parte de um projeto mais amplo cujo objetivo é analisar tal impacto, com base em periódicos publicados nos estados do Mato Grosso e Amazonas no período em que a Comissão percorreu tais estados (1907-1915). Pretende-se, a partir dessas fontes, acompanhar os debates intelectuais e políticos que ocorreram naquele contexto. Nesta apresentação será abordado o periódico A Cruz. | en_US |

| Abstract | The Comissão de Linhas Telegráficas Estratégicas (Strategic Telegraph Lines Commission) from Mato Grosso to the Amazon was, according to contemporary research on the topic, the most ambitious and complex expedition sponsored by First Brazilian Republic the governmen. The appropriate attention, however, has not been given to the local impact of the Rondon Commission activities in the states where the telegraph lines were built. This paper presents some first ideas which were taken into consideration, beingpart of a larger project whose goal is analyzing such impact, based on journals published in the states of Amazonas and Mato Grosso during the period in which the Commission visited them (1907- 1915). It is from these sources that we intend to consider the intellectual and political debates that occurred in that context. In this presentation we will deal with the journal A Cruz (The Cross). | en_US |
