This work aims to understand civil society responses focused on the care of women, particularly Black women, during the covid-19 health emergency in Brazil from 2020 to 2021, with an emphasis on the concepts of intersectionality, reproductive justice, and solidarity. Qualitative in nature, the research employed an exploratory approach and inductive data analysis to identify patterns and emerging categories within the focal concepts and selected initiatives. The research began with a detailed investigation of the concepts of intersectionality, reproductive justice, and solidarity, highlighting their relevance in the context of the health emergency. These concepts are considered pillars for comprehending and addressing the complex layers of oppression affecting Black women, especially during the pandemic. The study selected seven civil society initiatives that exemplified the work of social movements, especially women’s movement, during the pandemic, focusing on the years 2020 and 2021. These initiatives included proposals for the creation of narratives through art, evidence-based research, political advocacy, and direct community assistance. The choice of these initiatives was based on their relevance to the care of women during a health emergency and how they incorporated the concepts of intersectionality, reproductive justice, and solidarity. The analysis of the initiatives was conducted based on specific criteria related to each of the investigated concepts. The research primarily used accessible written and audiovisual sources found on news portals and other virtual records of the initiatives. The analysis aimed not to detail all the characteristics of the actions but to highlight practices that exemplified the concepts in question. The research results provide insights into how civil society initiatives addressed issues related to the care of Black women during the covid-19 health emergency. Furthermore, these findings may suggest guidelines for future actions in response to health emergencies, emphasizing the importance of considering intersectionality, promoting reproductive justice, and strengthening solidarity in the pursuit of social justice.
