Abstract | Background: Evaluate the results of the adhesion study at the AIDS Service of the Nova Iguacu General Hospital, in patients who had their antiretroviral therapy(ARV) changed, after therapeutic fail to the previous ARV because of lack of adherence to these drugs. Methods: The results were evaluated throught an specific form aplied by trained nurse and phisician during one mensal interview. The patients were both male and female, aged from 22 to 52 years and had distinct social, economics and scholar level. The values of the CD4 cell count(CD4) in blood were obtained thronght the fluxe citometry for monoclonal amflvody(ce]/mma) and the HIV viral load(CV) were measured by the RNA NucliSens Method(copies/ml), with detection limits under 80 copies count, before and after 80 weeks of the use of the new ARV. We also evaluated the frequency to the adhesion interview. The date were analised by the T-test and the confidence interval. Results: There were statistical significant diferences between the CD4 media before and after the ARV change which were 26,87 +/-221,17(p<0,00001), and between the viral load media which was 18431 6,57+-498365,61(p<0,05). All patients had their clinical state improved. The media of the frequency to the adhesion interview were of 88%(64%-100%). Conclusions: There arc 95% of certainty that the raise of the CD4 in the population stadied is, m avarage, between 166,13 and 307,61 and that the redution of the CV varies from 24931,67 to 343701,47 after 80 weeks of the mensal adherence interview to the ARV therapy. This study suggests that in our Service the regimen of the adherence interview for ARV strongly contributes to a better immunological response (p<0,05), and a better clinical improvement of these patients. | en_US |
