| Abstract in Portuguese | A pesquisa tem um papel importante no desenvolvimento sustentável ao melhorar o desempenho dos sistemas de saúde e seu impacto na saúde pública. Ciência, tecnologia e inovação estão incluídas em vários objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável da ONU. A LAC está comprometida em atingir esses objetivos, mas o crescimento da pesquisa em saúde necessária na região ainda é desigual. Os sistemas nacionais de saúde e pesquisa precisam revisar e alinhar metas, fortalecer infraestruturas e monitorar mecanismos para coletar dados confiáveis para avaliar o progresso no desenvolvimento social. | en_US |

| Abstract | Research has an important role in sustainable development by improving the performance of health systems and their impact on public health. Science, technology, and innovation are included in several UN sustainable development goals. LAC is committed to achieving these goals, but the growth of the required health research in the region is still uneven. National health and research systems need to review and align targets, strengthen infrastructures, and monitor mechanisms for gathering reliable data to assess progress in social development. | en_US |
