| Abstract in Portuguese | Dada a importância da química para a sociedade, buscamos compreender como a percepção da química tem sido retratada na literatura acadêmica. Para tanto, realizamos uma revisão bibliográfica, analisando 54 artigos científicos publicados entre 1996 e 2022 em 36 periódicos e escritos por 135 autores. Os resultados mostram que esse tema ainda é pouco pesquisado, com publicações pontuais. Se, por um lado, as publicações se concentram em investigar as percepções dos estudantes sobre química, com uma abordagem mais disciplinar e focada na compreensão do conteúdo ou da relação com a disciplina, por outro, há poucos esforços para investigar as atitudes e representações sociais da química como área do conhecimento. | en_US |

| Abstract | Given the importance of chemistry to society, we sought to understand how the perception of chemistry has been portrayed in academic literature. To this end, we conducted a literature review, analyzing 54 scientific articles published between 1996 and 2022 in 36 journals and written by 135 authors. The results show that this subject is still under-researched, with occasional publications. If, on the one hand, the publications focus on investigating students' perceptions of chemistry, with a more disciplinary approach and focused on understanding the content or the relationship with the discipline, on the other hand, there are few efforts to investigate the attitudes and social representations of chemistry as an area of knowledge. | en_US |
