do aparelho circulatório. Febre (p=0,002) e sintomas do aparelho digestivo (p=0,009) foram
Abstract
Mass gatherings such as religious tourism, sporting events and music concerts have increased
in recent years, representing a substantial risk to the health of populations with the
transmission of infectious diseases and injuries. Among the several places of religious tourism
in Brazil , the city of Juazeiro do Norte , CE , is the second most important in number of
visitors . Analyzed the morbidity profile of the pilgrims attending a service station during the
pilgrimage of the Finados, October-November 2012, and the seasonal increase in the number
of hospitalizations during the major pilgrimages, from 2007 to 2012. The study included two
design : a cross-sectional , conducted from the primary data collection and study time series ,
based on secondary data (SIH / SUS). A total of 377 people were treated at the emergency
station, 64.5 % were female, 73.9 % were older than 44 years and the majority (52.9 %) from
the state of Pernambuco. Headache and digestive symptoms were the most frequently reported
complaints. The majority (50.3%) had attended the circulatory system diseases . Fever (p =
0.002 ) and digestive symptoms (p = 0.009) were more frequent in the group aged < 45 years.
There were seasonal increase of hospitalization for respiratory diseases in the months from
March to June (F = 6.37, p < 0.001) . Observed seasonal increase in the number of admissions
for infectious and parasitic diseases (F = 1.91, p = 0.05) and external causes (F = 2.07 , p =
0.03) in January. The data showed that most of the pilgrims demanded consultation
procedures with low complexity, most related to diseases of the circulatory and metabolic
diseases. With the exception of admissions due to external causes, whose seasonal increase
occurred in the period corresponding to one of the pilgrimages (Candeias), there was no
agreement for the period of seasonal increase of admissions to the dates of the main festivals
of the city.
