In this article the scientific production of Brazil is studied in terms of the number of authors publishing scientific articles in the journals covered by ISI. The evolution of this production as well as the relation n? of authors versus population is analysed in comparison to different countries. The distribution of the authors who published articles in 1974 among geographic regions, states and institutions, as well as the parameter n9 of authors/n9 of professors in different universities are also investigated. The authors point out to the importance of organizing a Data Bank about Brazil's scientific production from ISI's files, and propose an efficient way towards this goal.
