possivelmente devido as unidades espacial e temporal utilizadas. | pt_BR |

Abstract | Dengue is an acute fever caused by an arbovirus, which has four serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4), all of them are in Brazil. The
main vector is Aedes aegypti mosquito. Tropical countries are the most affected by
dengue since its enviromental and social characteristics. Climate is an important
factor in the temporal and spatial distribution of vector-borne diseases, thus studies
on climatic variables can increase the knowledge of the seasonality and prediction of
epidemics. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between dengue risk and climate variables (temperature and precipitation) in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from 2001 to 2009. The analysis was split into two parts: temporal and spatial
analysis. Generalized Linear Models was used to investigate the influence of climate
covariates in the number of reported cases in the temporal analysis. The rainfall at
a time lag of a month was the only variable used in the spatial analysis. The spatial
distribution of the dengue risk in the city, from July 2007 to June 2008 were studied
by fitting the conditional autoregressive model (CAR). The literature presents minimum temperature as critical to development rate and maintenance of the vector
population, however studies are contradictory regarding the relationship of precipitation and dengue fever. The relationship between dengue and rainfall depends on
local characteristics of predominant breeding sites types. The main breeding sites
are maintained independently of volume of rainfall Rio de Janeiro city. In our study
we did not find a significant association between rainfall and cases of dengue fever,
probably due spatial and temporal scale used. | |
