As moscas estão associadas ao homem desde as civilizações mais antigas, sejam como amuletos, pragas e/ou deuses. Estas, assim como outros artrópodes podem estar associadas a questões legais e seu estudo é aplicado através da Entomologia Forense. Esta ciência possui cinco categorias distintas: urbana, de produtos estocados, toxicológica, ambiental e a médico-legal, que atrai o maior interesse atualmente, por mostrar-se muito útil para a estimativa do intervalo pós-morte (IPM), quando os métodos da patologia clássica são insuficientes, através do estudo da taxa de desenvolvimento dos artrópodes necrófagos que são influenciados por mudanças climáticas como temperatura e umidade. Além disso, possuem importância sanitária pela sua associação com os detritos do homem, sendo também vetores de microrganismos patogênicos. Dentre estas se encontra Fannia pusio, importante em ambas as áreas, pois além de compor a fauna cadavérica é um dos vetores de Dermatobia hominis, causadora de uma miíase furunculosa que traz consequências econômicas para o gado e derivados. Devido às variações de temperatura, características dos diversos biomas brasileiros, faz-se necessário um estudo sobre a influência direta deste parâmetro no desenvolvimento do inseto Este trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer o desenvolvimento pós-embrionário de F. pusio em diferentes temperaturas (25, 30 e 35±1ºC) que são recorrentes durante o inverno e o verão do Rio de Janeiro. Nas duas primeiras (25 e 30°C) o tempo de desenvolvimento foi inversamente proporcional à temperatura. A 25ºC a viabilidade não mostrou bons resultados para os estágios de larva e adultos. À 30°C foi possível fazer uma análise do potencial biótico de F. pusio, e ambas temperaturas obtiveram viabilidade de 100% em pupa. Além disso, foi observado que a fecundidade deste inseto sofre influência não somente da temperatura, mas também da quantidade de indivíduos presentes, visto que, à medida que havia um decréscimo do número de fêmeas, ocorria um aumento no número de ovos postos individualmente. Um fato interessante observado foi à impossibilidade do desenvolvimento de F. pusio a 35°C, sendo este provavelmente seu limiar máximo de desenvolvimento.
