Abstract | Dengue has established itself as one of the world’s most common mosquito-borne viral diseases. Although it prevails in tropical areas, sustained transmission of dengue has recently occurred in Florida. Dengue viruses can induce a spectrum of symptoms and, in severe cases, mortality in approximately 1-5% of infected individuals. A hallmark of dengue infection is thrombocytopenia that associates with abnormal platelet function, which is the focus of this review. | pt_BR |
