Abstract
The authors report two cases of aspergillosis observed in "gaturamo" (Tanagra violacea), produced by Aspergillus fumigatus. Filaments as well as typical conidiophores of Aspergillus were observed in the tissues as it can be seen in figures 1 - 4. The strain of A. fumigatus isolated grew better at the temperature of 37°C than that at room temperature, and showed high pathogenicity for guinea-pigs, rabbits and specially for pigeons. Following inoculation of a spore suspension, the animals died after a variable period, depending on the way of inoculation. In all the animals it was possible to reisolate the fungus.
