Abstract
Neglected tropical diseases (NTD) are a diverse group of diseases, which are prevalent in tropical areas and caused by a variety of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. NTDs have a devastating impact on the lives of around one billion people across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, affecting not just the health but also the social and economic prospects of communities (Sullivan 2016; Marmot 2005).
