Abstract
Aquatic environments are used throughout the world for different of purposes, among which stand out are the supply, energy generation and agricultural practices. Water represents, above all, the main constituent of all living organisms. However, in the last decades, this resource is being threatened by the intensification of land use for agricultural purposes, arousing great concern due mainly to the impacts caused to the environment, especially regarding contamination of water resources by pesticides. Faced with this scene there is a concern about the presence of these substances in sources intended for public supply. Thus the objective of this study was to validate a methodology to extract, identify and quantify the presence of pesticides residues in drinking water in order to contribute to water quality surveillance actions. The proposed methodology, extraction method QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, Safe) and quantification and identification by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography Electrospray Ionization - Tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-ESIMS/MS), in the determination of multi-residues of pesticides in drinking water, simultane ously validated 176 substances, which presented linearity in the working range, satisfactory recoveries in the range between 70 and 117 % and DPR values ≤ 20 %. The limits varied between: LD 0,0007 μg mL-1 to 0,0013 μg mL-1 and LQ 0,001 μg mL-1 to 0,004 μg mL-1 , demonstrating that it is possible to detect these substances at the level established by Portaria Nº 2.914/2011 of MS. The water samples collected in the state of RJ that presented pesticide residues there were concentrations below LQ, being some of toxicological classification from high to medium toxic and others from unauthorized use in Brazil. The proposed method can be used as a tool for studies and monitoring in areas most exposed to these wastes, and allows the search for other sources of water with potential for safe supply.
